GENERAL INFORMATION
The Course is devoted to the study of belcanto, and aims to strengthen the technical and expressive foundation required to perform this repertoire which, while remaining within the Classical sphere, may span from recitar cantando to contemporary works.
The number of participants in the 2022 course shall be limited to 12 active students.
The number of auditors is flexible.
During the course, students will also be able to perfect further pieces of their choice. These must be indicated in advance on the registration form. For each piece, the candidate must provide copies of the scores in the original key for the teacher and for the collaborating pianist.
The names of the two best students of the course will be sent to the Teatro Comunale di Bologna so they may audition for possible involvement in the Fondazione Lirica (Opera), given the compatibility in the Theatre’s programming and the characteristics and availability of the indicated students.

SUGGESTED REPERTOIRE
The 2022 course includes, in addition to the classic program (arias, duets and ensemble pieces), the preparation and staging of the opera “Il signor Bruschino” by Gioachino Rossini.
There will be two complete casts of the opera engaged in as many performances.
Rossini’s opera will be directed by two different concert masters (one for each of the two performances) from the Conducting course held and coordinated by Maestro Daniele Gatti, directed by Lorenzo Mariani.
Reference edition: G. Rossini, Il signor Bruschino (critical ed. A. Gazzaniga, Rossini Foundation), Ricordi, 1998.
In addition to the work, the course will be aimed at deepening solo and ensemble pieces in anticipation of the final concert of the course and any other performances.
In particular, in collaboration with the Conducting course, Symphony no. 4 in G major by G. Mahler (6 August). Female voices are therefore recommended to include the soprano part of the 4th movement of the symphony (“Das himmlische Leben”) in the video-audition program.
