GENERAL INFORMATION
The course is open to piano soloists and four hands piano duos.
After passing the entrance examination, students may perfect pieces of their own choice, by indicating their choices in advance on the application form. We recommend that students include in their study programme at least one piece that is from 5 to 7 minutes in length that can be performed as part of the final concert at the end of the course and/or in other concerts.
Pieces chosen for the entrance exam, as well as, those indicated for study during the course must be performed from memory.
Note: For information regarding reductions or exemptions from entrance and attendance fees, please consult the course regulations.
ENTRANCE EXAMINATION
For the admission exam, candidates must perform the following:
Solo pianists: a program of your choice lasting about twenty minutes including significant works from the piano repertoire from the nineteenth century onwards.
Four-hands piano duos: a program of your choice lasting about twenty minutes including significant works from the repertoire for four-hands piano from the nineteenth century onwards.
Pieces chosen for the entrance exam must be indicated on the application form and be performed from memory.
RECOMMENDED REPERTOIRE
It is recommended to study the Concerto in A min. op. 54 by R. Schumann. This composition will be performed during the final concert of the Conducting course (6 August) by the students of the Piano class who will be selected by the teacher.
AGE LIMITS
solo pianists: 30 years
duo pianists: an average of 30 years
Ensembles that can demonstrate that they have been together for at least three years are exempt from the age limit.
