THIERRY ESCAICH
29 SEPTEMBER – 4 OCTOBER
GENERAL INFORMATION
The course focuses on the practical study of various aspects of organ improvisation, exploring a wide range of forms and styles: traditional forms such as variations, fugues, passacaglias, and elaborations on Gregorian chant or chorale themes, as well as free forms designed to develop more creative approaches in contemporary languages. The course may also cover topics such as improvisation for silent films or more collective methods of improvisation.
The course is intended for musicians interested in approaching simple forms, such as those used in liturgical accompaniment, as well as for more experienced organists looking to develop their creativity through diverse rhythmic, melodic, harmonic, and sonic languages.

For the admission exam, candidates must present two free improvisations of approximately 5 minutes each: the first on a tonal theme (Baroque, Classical, or Romantic), adhering to the style of the chosen theme, and the second on a modern theme, in a free style.
