Giuseppe Ettorre is first double bass of the Orchestra and Filarmonica della Scala, of which he has been a member since 1987. He studied in Forlì with Leonello Godoli, and in Cremona and at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena with Franco Petracchi. In 1989, he was awarded at the “Bottesini” Competition in Parma and, in 1991, he won the ARD International Competition in Munich. He is the founder and president of the Ensemble Strumentale Scaligero and a member of I Cameristi della Scala. Among his many recordings he has released the CD Sextet which includes sixteen pieces of his own compositions with influences from jazz to new age. He has performed in quintet with Bobby McFerrin, and in trio with Stefano Bollani in a concert with the Filarmonica della Scala and Riccardo Chailly. In chamber music he has collaborated with the Berliner Philharmoniker Sextet, the Borodin Quartet, the Quartetto della Scala and the Trio di Parma.
He teaches in Milan at the Accademia della Scala and the Scuola Musicale and gives master classes in Italy and around the world.
He has been teaching at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena since 2016.
